What to Expect at the Getty Center

J. 保罗盖蒂 Museum
的 art—including works by Van Gogh 和 Renoir—was the personal collection of businessman 和 art collector J. 保罗盖蒂, once the world’s richest man, who saw art as a civilizing influence in society 和 sought to make it more widely available to the public. Through the work of the J. 保罗盖蒂 Trust after his death, Getty Museum displays hundreds of pre-20th-century European paintings, 图纸, illuminated manuscripts, 雕塑, decorative arts., as well as 19th-, 20th-, 21st-century photographs.
Tickets, Parking, Hours at 的 Getty Center 和 the Getty Villa
While there are no entrance fees for either the Getty Center 或者是 Getty Villa, you do have to request an advance timed-entry ticket f或者是 Villa, you’ll pay $20 for 停车 at either location (the rate drops after 3 p.m.). Bypass the fee by taking Uber, Lyft, or public transportation. 的 Getty Center is closed on Mondays but open from 10 a.m. 至下午五点半.m. on other days, with the exception of Saturdays, when the hours of operation are extended to 8:00 p.m.; the Villa is closed on Tuesdays but otherwise open from 10 a.m. 到5点.m.
Things to Do Near the Getty Center
To the east of the Getty is the University of California Los Angeles, just beyond that, Beverly Hills, with all it has to offer in the way of luxury boutiques, 酒店, other splurge-worthy indulgences. West 好莱坞 和 好莱坞 are nearby as well, latter being home to the Sunset Strip, Walk of Fame, Universal Studios 好莱坞. And if you enjoyed the art at the Getty Center, don’t overlook the fact that the Los Angeles Museum of Art (LACMA), is a relatively close 30-minute drive away.
